BiB - Ariel stuck to her chair by gray skirtalls
There wasn't much time left for more shooting, but we managed to squeeze in a short series that shows how to use overalls themselves to tie someone to a chair.
For this I let Ariel dress in polyester skirtalls (overalls but with a skirt bottom, also called jumper (US) or pinafore (UK)), with a front zipper and plastic Fastex buckles like you see on backpacks. The nice thing about these buckles is they always make a nice loud snapping noise when you close them, somewhat similar to the click of a padlock. These buckles seem hard to lock, but if you drill a small hole in the part that gets inserted and becomes visible again when you close it, you can put a padlock through it and prevent the buckle from opening.
At the top of the zipper I added a strong thread connecting both sides, so that even if the wearer opens the zipper, the buckles still need to be opened to get the shoulder straps off the shoulders. The thread also serves as a connection point for the padlock through the zipper. (See also the Denim Skortalls series.)
I made Ariel sit in the chair with the bib still unattached, and then pulled the shoulder straps behind the back rest, over her shoulders and locked them. That way the skirtalls kept her with her back to the chair. (The back rest of this foldable chair was a bit low, but still effective.) Then I told her to try to escape.
Ariel made a valiant effort, and discovered the straps were not quite tight enough and she could still slide them off her shoulders. After that she looked at me triumphantly, but I sat back and just kept watching: the straps were still holding her to the chair! Then she tried to slide out of the skirtalls and managed to get the zipper mostly open, but in the end she couldn't get her shoulders through the opening, and was stuck. (I actually should have put a padlock through the rings I sewed on the front and back of the skirt hem, to prevent that and keep her modest. With a pair of overalls of shortalls this escape would not be possible either.)
